Fire up the kettle everyone, it's Chili Cook-Off time! Save the date, Saturday, March 9, to participate in the Second Annual "Not Yo' Mama's Chili" Chili Cook-Off!
There will be no charge to enter the contest, or to sample the different kinds of chili, however, donations will be accepted if you are so inclined. A 50-50 raffle will be held again to offset the expenses. Prizes will be awarded for third, second, and grand master and winners will receive a plaque and a t-shirt, as well as serious bragging rights! The grand master will have his or her name added to the "Hall of Flame" plaque hanging in the lodge.
Entry forms must be submitted by March 7th. You can pick up an entry form at the LPOA office, the Guardhouse, the lodge, clip it out of this months Viking or click the link at the left.
Entrants must be set up in the lodge by 3:00pm on March 9th, and judging will start shortly after. We are asking that you bring at least 4 quarts of chili, so that everyone can get a taste. Spoons, bowls or cups, tables and napkins, and crackers will be provided.
The Gasper Township Firefighters will again be judging the chili. The categories will be mild, spicy, hot, and call 911! The winner last year was a 911 chili, but we are not encouraging or endorsing a 911 chili. The firemen can only eat a little of that hot stuff. If their taste buds are numb, it would be hard to come up with a winner. So please be kind to them.
So, join the fun, grab your cowboy hat, and get your chili on! If you have any questions, please call Ginger Adams at 456-1926, or Alice Forte at 472-1033.
