Marine & Lakes Management Committee monitors and evaluates the condition of the main lake and smaller lakes within Lakengren and the watershed that fills them. The committee seeks and cultures means to hinder and eliminate natural processes that degrade water quality and recreational resources. They maintain an awareness of relative populations of game fish and rough fish and researches approaches to eradication and control of rough fish population to the extent of optimizing quality of recreational fishing. This committee stocks fish in the lake, reports conditions of the lakes and fish to the Board of Trustees and recommends actions to be taken when required.

A monitoring program identifies early onset of algae and weed growth with the goal of initiating chemical treatment by Lakengren Maintenance and/or committee members to control overgrowth. Aeration is implemented on a budgeted basis to control algae and reduce bottom sediments.

An on-going lake clarity monitoring program records and reports lake turbidity, coloration and water temperature. They maintain an awareness of the surrounding watershed and its contribution to silt accumulation and sanitary conditions. This committee monitors sediment accumulation in the main lake and smaller lakes, assists in removal of silt and recommends locations and methods of silt removal. They communicate to the community the importance of reducing nutrients, which damage the lake, i.e., nutrients introduced through burning along the lake, dumping leaves, grass clippings along the shores, unrestricted fertilizing, etc.

The committee sponsors Fishing Tournaments as a means of generating revenue for their stocking program. For further information, Bruce Clark at 472-2020.
